The port of Qingdao has signed a memorandum of understanding with Gdansk, Poland's largest port, to jointly push for increased trade between the two logistic hubs, according to Qingdao Daily on June 28.

Gdansk is located in the north of Poland, along the Baltic Sea, and has grown in to a major shipping center in Europe.

In 2015, the total handling capacity for the port of Gdansk reached 35.9 million tons, accounting for 46.5 percent of the domestic market share in Poland.

As the latest partner of China's Belt and Road Initiatives in Europe, Gdansk will cooperate with Qingdao in various marine affairs, ranging from the development and operation of harbors, modern logistics, to intelligent harbor development and training.

Both ports will also promote the establishment of bilateral friendship.
