Qingdao receives 1.6m tourists during Mid-Autumn Festival

According to Qingdao's tourism bureau, Qingdao received some 1.6 million tourists during the Mid-Autumn Festival, year-on-year growth of 18.9 percent, netting 1.93 billion yuan ($289 million) in tourism revenue, up 27.8 percent year-on-year.

Qingdao's 23 scenic spots received more than 1.13 million tourists during the Mid-Autumn Festival, with business earnings of 12.68 million yuan.

Around 34,000 tourists visited Laoshan National Park during the festival, which affords spectacular ocean views and is famous as one of the cradles of Taoism, as well as for its historic temples, bringing in business income of 2.2 million yuan.

The Underwater World of Qingdao received 14,300 tourists, earning revenue of 1.49 million yuan.

The Qingdao Haichang Polar Ocean World received 22,000 tourists and netted income of 3.6 million yuan.

Agritourism attracted around 167,000 tourists during the festival, including activities such as picking grapes and oranges in the suburbs, with tourism revenue amounting to 8.67 million yuan.

During the three-day Mid-Autumn Festival, the average occupancy of 19 star-class hotels in Qingdao reached 54 percent, among which five-star hotels reported 45.3 percent, four-star hotels reported 59.4 percent and three-star hotels reported 53.2 percent.
