Non-degree programs (short and long-term) |
Chinese language and culture studies require a mastery of basic Chinese vocabulary and grammar; a rudimental listening, speaking, reading and writing ability; a Chinese and cross-cultural communication ability after three years of study; and the ability to adapt to daily life, studies, and socializing. Upon completion of studies you receive a graduation certificate from the School of International Education and Exchanges. The faculty are all experienced teachers with a high degree of Chinese-teaching skills and years of teaching experience. We also guarantee a pass rate for the New HSK Exams of 90 percent even for those who previously had little knowledge of Chinese language. |
|
Other programs |
There is HSK exam training for those who want to complete an undergraduate, master’s, or doctoral program at college or university. But, a failure to meet basic standards in Chinese language proficiency and cross-cultural communications can affect the chance of being accepted by a college or university. The curriculum should be covered in 1-2 years. The program mostly focuses on new HSK training, levels 4 through 6. |
II. Study
1. Length of time
The normal course of study for the respective programs is four years for the undergraduate degree, three years (or two in some cases) for the master's degrees, and four years for the doctorate. In some cases, students can reduce or extend the duration of study after getting approval. Shanxi University has a spring and autumn semester for each academic year, and a commencement. The autumn semester begins in September and ends in the following January and the spring semester begins in February and ends in June. There is a winter and summer vacation every year, with the summer vacation usually lasting two months and the winter vacation, four weeks, usually in line with the Chinese New Year.
