Shandong's protection and Smriti work of intangible cultural heritages

Shandong is a magical and old land. Magnificent mountains and a vast sea nurture her 7,000-year civilization. Not only is it where the Olympic sailing games took place, it's also where Confucius was born, where Mount Tai rose skyward, and where the Yellow River empties into the sea. It is the land of ceremony and propriety with a perfect combination of ancient and modern civilizations.

Governments at all levels are now working together to preserve the province's unique cultural heritage.

Shandong is home to 173 state-level, 751 provincial-level, 2,509 municipal-level and 7,513 county-level pieces of intangible cultural heritage, eight of which have been added to UNESCO's world intangible cultural heritage list.

More than 6,000 intangible cultural heritage inheritors have been trained and appointed in Shandong with official responsibility for carrying forward the province's intangible cultural heritage.

Shandong possesses one state-level and nine provincial-level eco-cultural preservation areas to better protect and inherit the hundreds of years of history in particular ethnic groups' intangible cultural heritage items, which are an important part of the ethnic groups' spiritual legacies.

There are currently more than 92,000 Shandong enterprises and self-employed households engaged in 2.3 million jobs related to traditional crafts. Annual revenue exceeds 81 billion yuan ($11.74 billion).
