Maize Cakes Cooked with Small Fish
Maize cake cooked with small fish is a common dish for Tianjin residents. They cook cleaned fish in a big pot with pure water and various spices, then stick maize cakes on the inside of the pot. The dish offers fresh fish as well as pancakes absorbed in the fish soup. Yang Nai Nai, or Grandma Yang's Fish Cooking, is the most famous Tianjin restaurant that specializes in the dish.
Fruit-stuffed "tang yuan"
"Tang yuan" is a dish of glutinous rice balls served in a sweet broth. To make this snack, you pour glutinous rice flour in a bowl and slowly add water until the mixture becomes dough-like. Then you cut fresh fruit into pieces and stuff them into the dough.
Zhilanzhai Gao Gan
The famous Tianjin snack "gao gan" is a kind of dry cake that can be traced back to the early Ming Dynasty. Zhilanzhai produces the most famous "gao gan." Sweet, snow-white and refreshing, Zhilanzhai "gao gan" is appetizing and nutritious.
