Songs of Nie Er, a big cultural entertainment gala, has been performed at the Nie Er Opera (previous known as the Yunnan Grand Theatre) from 9 pm to 12 pm every night since July 16.
Songs of Nie Er utilizes first-class stage, lighting, video and laser techniques taken from the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony. Nie Er, born in Yunnan, is known for composing the national anthem, The March of the Volunteers.
The gala features stage performances and has production value similar to several CCTV entertainment shows and the Spring Festival Gala of Hunan TV. The production team consists of staff from 20 popular Chinese TV programs.
In terms of culture, the gala is devoted to promoting original Chinese music. It has become a partner and a production base of 15sing.com and will help with the production, publication and promotion of seven large Chinese music websites. At the same time, it will join all the promotion events in China held by Jay-Z.cn.
Various Yunnan legends will be performed in the form of musical drama. The customs and music of the ethnic groups will be featured in a style similar to the Irish Riverdance.
