Leaders of Yunnan's cultural industry gathered in Tengchong on March 12, to investigate its key circular bead embroidery cultural project, which is carried out by the Tengchong Tengyue Circular Bead Clothing Company.
Established in August 2005, the Tengchong Tengyue Circular Bead Clothing Company received a special support fund of 1.65 million yuan ($264,900) to carry out the Tengyue Embroidery Project, which it completed at the end of 2011.
The company currently owns 36 national patents in more than 30 product series. The company's output value hit 34.12 million yuan in 2014, with a sales volume of 33.07 million yuan.
Li Hongbin, a senior staff member from the company, said that the company applies traditional techniques to its waistcoats, aprons and ethnic clothes embroideries and occupies a market-oriented operation mode.
"At present, we have three sewing and processing plants and 45 embroidery basements. We have also offered opportunities to more than 20,000 women for increasing their income," said Li. Li also said that the product design and R&D centers helped embroideries absorb traditional embroidery and paper-cutting arts. The circular bead embroidery has not only applied techniques from the Dai and Achang ethnic groups, but has also integrated elements from Southeast Asian countries, such as Myanmar and Thailand.
