Yunnan University (Chenggong Campus) has been constructing a campus cinema, ynci.cn reported.
After completion, the cinema will accommodate more than 200 people. There will also be a café outside the cinema.
Li Xianfeng, deputy curator of Yunnan University Library, noted the ticket price will be below 15 yuan. The cinema is not exclusive to Yunnan University students. Nearby residents as well as students from other universities are also welcome to watch a movie there.
“We are negotiating with theatre chains on the prices, and they will operate the campus while the university will be the supervisor,” Li went on to say.
“We can go watch a movie after studying hard at the library,” said a student.
Apart from movie-watching, the cinema may also be used as an auditorium for campus activities.
University students are a main percentage of movie goers. In recent years, many Chinese universities have considered establishing their own campus cinemas to enrich students’ extracurricular activities.
