Yunnan performance group gives show in India

The performance group of the Chinese Cultural Promotion Association of Yunan province gave a performance for teachers and students at Visva-Bharati University in India on Aug 19, 2016.
More than 1,500 people attended the performance, including Ma Zhanwu, the consul general for China in Kolkata, vice-president of the university Swapan K. Datta, and the deputy director of the Yunnan provincial foreign affairs office.
On Aug 5, Ma Zhanwu came to visit Visva-Bharati University and this is the second time Ma has visited the university in a month. Ma said that he wants Indian people to know more about Chinese culture, increase exchange visits, and improve relations between the two peoples.
Ma also said that the relationship between China and India had entered a new stage, and that communications and cooperation are increasing. Although there are some problems and differences between the two countries, shared interests outweigh the differences.
Ma explained that the consul general of China in Kolkata is willing to continue to promote cultural exchanges between the two countries.
Ma also hoped teachers and students from Visva-Bharati University would work together to enhance communication and make contributions to the development of relations between the two countries.
Ma outlined the performance and achievements that Yunnan has made through reforms and opening-up.
Swapan K. Datta thanked the group for their excellent singing and dancing. He said that China and India should work together to carry out cooperation in more fields.
