The China-Thailand Film and Television Forum got underway in Chiang Mai Exhibition Center on Sept 22.
Leaders from both China and Thailand attended the opening ceremony, including Gao Feng, vice-governor of Yunnan province, Mongkol Suksai, Chiang Mai’s vice-governor, and Chiang Mai Mayor Tatsanai Puranupakorn.
Speaking at the ceremony, Gao praised the long-lasting friendship between neighbors Yunnan and Thailand.
Chiang Mai and Yunnan have maintained friendly communication and cooperation in recent years, said Gao, adding that Yunnan is now playing an active role in pushing forward the Belt and Road Initiative and Lancang-Mekong River cooperation.
Gao also pledged that Yunnan will deepen and consolidate its friendly cooperation with Thailand to achieve win-win results.
Vice-Governor Suksai agreed that Chiang Mai and Yunnan have achieved much pragmatic cooperation. This activity will provide a good platform for both sides to deepen cooperation in the publishing and film industries.
Thousands of readers attended a book fair at the forum, in which more than 2,000 books were on display.
Yunnan Broadcasting and TV Station and Yunnan Education Press signed cooperation agreements with their Thai counterparts on the first day of the forum.
The China-Thailand Film and Television Forum, sponsored by the Yunnan Administration of Radio Film and Television, will last five days until Sept 27.
