It seemed impossible to appreciate seascapes in China's southwest Yunnan province, which sits on the Yunnan-Guizhou plateau. Then the dream came true when the world’s first ice and ocean-themed amusement park opened in Yunnan on Aug 18.

To publicize the amusement park the Honghe Hani and Yi autonomous prefecture, where the park is located, recently held a marketing conference in Mengzi, its capital city.

Kunming Television and companies related to the Shilin Ice and Ocean World project said that together the companies and mass media will build the amusement park into an international tourism brand.

During the festival, which lasts until Nov 30, people will be able to buy tickets at 20 percent off through the Shilin Ice and Ocean World WeChat account or Meituan, a group-buying online platform.

The park has already opened an aquarium, Yunnan's first high-standard marine museum, and a large robot park, also Yunnan's first.

The aquarium includes eight themed subjects such as the ancient ocean and a coral kingdom.

The robot park displays 200 advanced robots from across the world. Some can communicate with visitors and provide guide services; others can play football, and even box.

Other attractions, including an indoor skiing resort and an ice sculpture display, are coming soon.
