The works of the previous winners of the Cangxin Art Scholarship were put on display at the Kunming Municipal Museum on Nov 26, in a month-long exhibition celebrating the artistic achievements of young up-and-coming artists.
The scholarship, awarded to talented postgraduate painters, was established by the Chinese Culture promotion Society and the Beijing Cultural Development Foundation in 2014.

A maximum of 20 scholarships are awarded each year, with the top three painters being earmarked as “artists with the most potential”, and taken on an eight-day tour abroad to meet other artists and figures in the industry.

The judging panel is made up of eight art experts including Wang Yong, a doctoral supervisor at the Graduate School of the Chinese National Academy of Arts.
“The Cangxin scholarship is a social platform for the development of the new generation of Chinese artists,” said Zhou Cangxin, head of the newly-established Yunnan University New International Academy of Arts.
