A launch ceremony for Zhouzhuang Culture Week was held in Melaka, Malaysia, on June 23 as an integral part of the 22nd Zhouzhuang International Tourism Festival.
Zhouzhuang, an iconic water town in Jiangsu province, formed a sister relationship in May with Jonker Walk, a renowned Chinese community in Melaka.
As the first activity carried out between the two sister attractions, the culture week features a series of printing and photography exhibitions, and culture salons to demonstrate Zhouzhuang's unique charm to Malaysian locals.
Xu Xuexin, head of the visiting Zhouzhuang delegation, explained that it is the first time for Zhouzhuang to launch such an event in Malaysia, adding that it shall promote the water town's profile across the region.
Also he hopes Jonker Walk and Zhouzhuang could further strengthen mutual exchanges and explore new ways of achieving joint prosperity in the future.
