Statistics bureau to release economic data for June
The National Bureau of Statistics will release the economic data for June on Monday, including those related to the consumer price index and the producer price index. The CPI is the main gauge of inflation, while the PPI indicates changes in wholesale prices and a decline can reflect deflation in the industrial sector. In May, the CPI rose by 1.5 percent year-on-year.
Hong Kong to launch renminbi, dollar gold futures
Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Ltd will launch its offshore renminbi and US dollar gold futures contracts on Monday. The first pair of commodity futures that can be physically delivered in the city, they will further strengthen Hong Kong as an offshore yuan center. The bourse will team up with the Chinese Gold and Silver Exchange Society to promote the products.
Agency plans briefing on the status of medical reform
The National Health and Family Planning Commission will brief the media in Beijing on Monday on the status of medical reform. The program aims to provide universal coverage of basic healthcare. In 2009, the State Council, China's Cabinet, unveiled a plan to extend healthcare to every citizen by 2020.
New free-zone negative list takes effect on Monday
A new negative list applicable in China's free trade zones will take effect on Monday. It will replace the current list, released in 2015. It comprises 95 special management measures divided among 15 industry sectors and 40 sub-sectors, and applies to foreign investment in the country's 11 FTZs. A negative list is a list of sectors on which taxes are not applied.
