Qianmen's Dashila'r Street in Beijing was cramped and chaotic in 1988.
But after several renovations in recent years it is now more modern with better conditions for its residents and shoppers.
A picture taken on Wednesday shows how things have changed and how the area has evolved into a busy commercial zone.
