At the 2006 FINA Diving World Cup, the 14-year-old Chen grabbed the gold of women's 10m platform synchronized event with her pair Jia Tong, making herself the youngest world champion of the national diving team.
She and Jia Tong also claimed the gold title of the 10m platform synchronized event at the 2007 Melbourne World Championships. At the 2008 FINA Diving World Cup, Chen pocketed both 10m platform individual and synchronized gold medals.
China named 639 athletes to contest 38 disciplines of all 28 sports for the Beijing Olympics in a low-profile ceremony last Friday.
Those uprising stars among the Chinese delegation attracted much attention as they are also medalist hopefuls in this Olympics.
