Chinese mothers should rethink on Caesarean operations, as the ratio of births by C-Section to normal deliveries, at 46 percent currently, has far exceeded the international safe line of 15 percent, according to an article in Beijing News. Excerpts:

Hospitals and mothers blame each other for such a high ratio. The former say young mothers now care more about the shape of their bodies and are afraid of the pain during labor, while mothers complain that obstetricians and hospitals always suggest Caesarean operations to charge more from the patients. Other reasons include the tense relationship between hospitals and patients in China, and the growing number of older women giving birth for the first time.

Yet, the reason behind such a high number of C-Sections is due to the selfishness of adults that risks the baby's health. Research has showed that the process of natural labor, by pressing babies' bodies, provides training for their lungs and other parts. Let's stop bypassing such a crucial stage needed for all babies.
