Of late, a video film, labeled "Youngest third generation shows off wealth", has been doing the rounds of the Internet. The video shows a 7-year-old girl with Gucci bags and other luxury goods, and says she lives in a castle-like house and that her father is a high-level government official. Such videos should not be uploaded on the Internet or highlighted by the media because it will have a bad effect on children's minds, says an article in Yangtze Evening Post. Excerpts:
A 7-year-old girl has no independent civil capacity. Therefore, what the girl in the video says cannot and should not be taken seriously.
She said she "lives in a castle and her father is a high-level official" probably because she watches too many fairy tales or cartoons or other programs on TV.
Even if the little girl was born into a rich family, no one can point a finger at it if the family earned its wealth through legal means.
Also, the girl should not be referred to as the "youngest third generation showing off wealth". In fact, later investigation revealed that the girl's father was just a businessman.
Besides, the video is an infringement on the girl's as well as her family's privacy, because it was not approved by the girl's parents or guardians before it was posted online.
Her parents are rightly worried that the video could create unnecessary mental pressure on their daughter.
Also, they hope that it is deleted as soon as possible, which hopefully is fulfilled.
