My opinion of China changed after my first visit, and is modified with each subsequent visit. Stereotypes are for the weak-minded, but yes, I had prejudices and pre-conceived notions. Some were upheld, some demolished. Along with this were new discoveries and enlightenment about the culture.

One thing I greatly admire about China's system is that when someone is selected for the highest offices in the country, they are people who have significant experience and who have proven themselves in positions of lesser responsibility before being entrusted with the top offices in the country.
Your dedication to serving the people of China is evident in your past and I rest comfortably knowing that the future of the PRC is in such capable hands. I am a foreigner, but I have many friends in China about whom I care deeply and I am relieved to know that their futures are secure.

"So many things in China have changed but the love of country and a steadfast trust in the government are the only ideologies that Chinese people have been able to ‘hang onto’ in the past 60 years."

"I just returned from my 7th trip to China. I haven't been to Shanghai yet, but I have spent a lot of time in Shenzhen. Since I first started going to China in 2006, I have seen nothing but forward progress and improvement in peoples standards of living there. I plan to retire there."

In the US, there is a totally different approach to learning. In China, it's strictly memorizing. Practical learning has been scientifically proven to be the best method for learning. Sitting idle in a classroom and listening to lectures only recalls about 10% of material.

The easiest way to narrow the income gap is simply to tax the wealthiest at a much higher rate. And increase wages and increase domestic consumption start more public works projects in western China. China could become more agriculturally self sufficient by building massive irrigation projects.
I have visited China many times. I agree that corruption exists in both countries. It's hard to say if one place is worse than the other. But I think China needs more to apply rule of law and transparency in government operations so that the citizens can simply watch their officials more closely.
