Today, many people keep pets. It's highly understandable for people to keep pets like dogs, cats, fish, turtles and birds. But some people are willing to risk everything to share their lives with very dangerous animals, like tigers, bears or snakes? Why do they do that? I think there are basically three reasons why some people like dangerous animals. If you can think of other reasons, please let me know.
First of all, the possession of a dangerous pet makes them feel special about themselves. Everyone wants to be different from others in some way. Their special pets can satisfy that need.
Second, they believe that they have a unique ability to control a dangerous animal. Some may think they can read the mind of an animal. Some people think it's really cool to master such a strong animal as a tiger or a lion. The mastering of a wild animal really expands their ego.
The third reason is that some people just like the thrill of owning a dangerous animal. That's all it is about. They just like the excitement and the horror the animals can cause. It's actually a psychological illness, just like addiction to drug or computer games. It is very complicated how they develop such an interest in those animals. If this is the case, talking with a counselor is strongly recommended.
Cases where people are hurt or even killed by pets happen all the time. They think they have created a bond with the animal, but in reality they haven’t. Or more accurately, the bond between the animals and people isn't what they think it is.
My suggestion for people who have dangerous pets is: never believe that you can understand the mind of an animal. Remember this sentence: "You can take the animal out of the wild, but you can never take the wild out of the animal".
