Building world-class universities in China

Future universities must be in step with the times, offering the best scientific know-how and the necessary environment for creativity and innovation. Nothing can be achieved if there is a lack of funds. Hence it will need top class dollars to set the ball rolling and get as many top class teachers and academics as possible, locally and from abroad. Obsolete departments should be abandoned or maybe even not considered in the first place.

Gather information from society and use the data to best serve its needs. An Ivory Tower is useless and a waste of funds. Sciences and Humanities should be given equal attention because in a rapidly changing world, without the proper policies and guidelines that enhance a country's stature, follies and mistakes could easily be repeated, to the detriment once again of our planet.
