无人机实名注册(wúrénjī shímíng zhùcè): Real name registration for drone users
The Civil Aviation Administration of China, China's civil aviation regulator, announced on Tuesday that all the civilian drones weighing more than 250 grams will have to be registered under the users' real names as of June 1.
This regulation aims to guarantee the safety of civil aviation flights and curb the "black flights" by drones that have caused chaos at many airports recently.
On April 21, 58 flights due to land at Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport had to divert to other airports and more than 10,000 passengers were delayed at the airport because of four civilian drones.
Registration of civilian drones is a common international practice and the foundation for better management of unmanned aerial vehicles.
Meanwhile, the CAAC will release information on the areas around airports where the flying of civilian drones is prohibited, and work with local governments and public security authorities to share and check civilian drone registration data.
