Beijing-based iReader Technology Co Ltd held a conference and product launch in Beijing, China on November 1st, 2017, wherein they introduced two new electronic readers. These two new handheld electronic reading devices have different uses, with the iReader Ocean allowing individuals to have a better reading experience, and the iReader Light, developed for the younger demographic, which encourages students and children to read as well.

Wang Gang, the head developer of the iReader's new software projects spoke about the ceaseless research and development conducted in the last five years. Outside of the five years of research and development, there was also a three-year long production and manufacturing process. The team was committed to understanding the habits of those who used their reading software, leading them to not only launch different electronic reading software, but to also reveal the iReader UI. The iReader UI was created to benefit and supplement the reading habits of their compatriots, allowing them to utilize its hardware, software, and multifaceted reports to further improve the service of their users.

The iReader Ocean's comes equipped with a flat screen (that is, the entire surface is a screen). This design reflects the current trends in mobile phone users' habits. In addition, the ease of electronic reading, straight out of your palm, is improved by the reduction of the Ocean's weight to a mere 196 grams, 12 grams lighter than its predecessor. Further, the thickness of the Ocean has now also been cut down from its original 8.7 mm to 7.4mm.

Its 8GB storage space allows its readers to store thousands of e-books, and its 1500mAh battery allows users to enjoy a few weeks of reading life. The iReader Ocean also has built-in WiFi, and supports PC and mobile phone file transfers.

The iReader Light, with its demographic being younger readers, has been carefully designed and curated to house thousands of children's fiction e-books. These electronic works include picture books, children's literature, world famous titles, and even educational books on society, culture, and science. The latter titles include encyclopedias, English workbooks, texts on Confucianism, and other teaching materials and content.
