Construction of Qingdao-Jiaozhou bridge begins

A project to connect a local Bay Bridge in Qingdao with Jiaozhou city was launched at the new industrial zone on Kiaochow bay on December 27. Jiaozhou is a county-level city 73 kilometers northwest of Qingdao.
The project, funded by an investment of 700 million yuan from local authorities, will have four lanes and allow automobiles to drive at the speed of up to 80 kilometers per hour along its 2,817 meter span, according to Shandong Hi-Speed Group, the company that is building the bridge.
