Explosion in firecracker factory kills 9

At least 9 people have died and 8 injured following an explosion in Northwest China's biggest firecracker production base.

Many of the dead were villagers working in the factory, most of them women.
The local hospital is battling to save the lives of the injured, four of whom have already been transferred to Xi'an, capital of Shaanxi Province.
The owner of the factory, Qu Pingxin, surrendered himself to the police. His four partners are still at large.
The cause of the accident is still being investigated.
