The Clipper 09-10 Race is expected to arrive Saturday in Qingdao, a coastal city in Shandong province, officials with the Qingdao Sports Federation said.

Qingdao will hold a welcome ceremony, a set-sail ceremony and an award ceremony during the race, Qingdao vice mayor Wang Xiulin said.

The Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center will be divided into six major areas to hold promotion events, including cultural and sports performances, a folk art exhibition and Lantern Festival lantern riddles.

Seventy-six crew members with the Clipper Race are going to join local families to celebrate the Lantern Festival, which falls on February 28.

The Clipper 09-10 Race yachts departed Hull in the UK on 13 September 2009, and will return there on 17 July, 2010. It will last 10 months and cover 35,000 miles of ocean. It has visited France, Brazil, South Africa, Australia, and Singapore. It will then go to San Francisco, Panama, Jamaica, New York, Cape Breton Island, Ireland and Holland.
