High-end property project Eastern Diaoyutai Homeland, with an asking price of over 80,000 yuan ($11,720) per square meter this year, holds on to its title for four successive quarters as the most expensive housing in the city, the Beijing News reported Wednesday.
Its mind-boggling price has shot up 14.8 percent from the previous quarter, an increase of over 10,000 yuan. The luxury real estate project is close to the eponymous Diaoyutai State Guest House to the east, famed for its reception of world leaders. To its south is a giant 3A-rated park with a sweeping lake the size of 84 football fields, a rare landscape in the dusty capital known for its dry climate.
According to statistics on Fangjia.com, a real estate Internet portal, apartment sizes at Eastern Diaoyutai Homeland vary from 313 to 471 square meters, making any purchase here no less than 25 million yuan ($3.7 million).
The newspaper, quoting property agency Yahao's statistics, said the average real estate price in Beijing, including its sprawling suburbs, has buoyed up to 25,010 yuan ($3,664) per square meter.
