As a world-famous ceramic capital, Jingdezhen city has a long history of ceramics production and a rich cultural heritage. Jingdezhen is rich in natural resources and has a good ecological environment. The main mineral products are porcelain stone, kaolin and coal. Deposits of porcelain stone, or kaolin, are abundant and can be exploited for over 300 years.

The ceramic industry in Jingdezhen produces mainly daily-use porcelain. It has also developed varieties of ceramics including art ceramics, construction ceramics, industrial ceramics and electronic ceramics. Jingdezhen has become an important ceramic producing and exporting base in China.
