Lijiang branch of Yunnan Technician College, co-established by Yunnan Technician College and National Technical Secondary School of Lijiang, officially opened on April 27.

Cui Maohu, municipal Party secretary, said that the municipal government would support the construction of the college as always. At the same time, the Lijiang branch should offer training to students based on market demand and teach them practical knowledge and marketable skills so that more people can be lifted out of poverty through acquired skills. In that way the role of education in poverty alleviation would be enhanced.

Lijiang branch of Yunnan Technician College will enroll 1,000 students in 2018. The Human Resources and Social Security Department of Yunnan province will offer support to the college in setting up majors, developing an enrollment plan, training of teaching staff and students' employment. The college will offer specifically-targeted vocational training for near-guaranteed employment, adopting Germany's dual education system that combines apprenticeships in a company and vocational education at school to ensure a talented labor pool in respective industries.

According to Shi Likang, deputy director-general of the Human Resources and Social Security Department of Yunnan province, the two schools will combine their advantages and build Lijiang branch into a characteristic education brand offering solid talent support to the social-economic development of Lijiang.

Yunnan Technician College was the first technician college of Yunnan province. It has enjoyed a long history and has a complete range of majors. It has many illustrious graduates, like Geng Jiasheng, the famous artisan and national model worker.
