Border guards encourage civilized conduct

The Lijiang Frontier Inspection Station of Yunnan Public Security Frontier Corps recently held a series of activities with the aim of improving the behavior of Chinese tourists traveling overseas.

Geography and climate

The 3.8-square-kilometer old town of Lijiang is located in the Yunnan Guizhou Plateau, 2,400 meters above sea level.

Old town history

Lijiang's old town was designated as a town around the beginning of the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368).

Architecture

Its architecture is noteworthy for its blending of many varied elements from several different cultures that have come together there over many centuries.

Lijiang may spoil you with its beauty. Snow-capped mountain vistas, ancient architecture and streets, canals and waterways, and the Naxi people and their distinct culture give Lijiang its universal value to mankind.

Joseph Rock and Lijiang

Rock began his explorations near Lijiang in the village of Yuhu, settling there in 1922 after a trip to Myanmar.
