Competition in China's fast-growing online insurance industry is intensifying as the nation's internet giants are investing heavily in the lucrative sector.

China e-commerce giant JD has invested 537 million yuan ($85.5 million) into Allianz China General Insurance Company Ltd for a 33.33 percent stake in the company, becoming the second largest shareholder after the transaction.

China’s e-commerce giant JD.com (JD) will invest 2.5 billion yuan ($398.1 million) to establish the second phase of its “Yazhou 1” project in Shenyang, Northeast China’s Liaoning province, according to information from the Northeast China headquarter of JD on April 9.
