More than 5 million passengers traveled through the Shanghai's Pudong and Hongqiao International Airports in April 2015, according to the Shanghai Airport Authority.

The two airports handled up to 37,245 aircraft movements in April 2015, up 14.5 percent compared with the same period last year. Passenger numbers surged 19.9 percent to 5.03 million, domestic passenger volume increased by 24.3 percent to 2.54 million, while the number of international passengers rose from 20.5 percent to 1.98 million, according to SAA statistics.

Aircraft takeoffs and landings totaled to 37,245, up 14.5 percent from the previous year. Domestic and international aircraft movements surged 18.2 percent and 13.5 percent year on year, with regional movements dropping 1.3 percent.

Cargo traffic increased 4.6 percent to 276,500 tonnes, 207,500 tonnes of which was carried on international flights.
