New bus line connects Shanghai airport
The Taicang terminal opened a bus line to Pudong International Airport in Shanghai on Nov 26.
The terminal is now linked to the two major airports in the nearby city of Shanghai – Hongqiao and Pudong.
At the terminal, travellers can buy air tickets and get their boarding passes before being shuttled to the Shanghai airports on luxury coaches. There is a VIP lounge for passengers waiting for buses to arrive.
The bus to Pudong airport operates twice a day at 8 am and 2 pm, stopping at the airport's first and second departure halls after a 100-minute trip.
Passengers of China Eastern and Shanghai Airlines' long-haul domestic flights can check in at the Taicang terminal, which also plans service to more domestic airlines such as Air China, China Southern and Juneyao. It also has plans to include check-in service for international flights.
So far, around 100 people buy tickets and check in at the terminal each day. And approximately 1,000 travellers commute between the terminal and Hongqiao airport.
The terminal was put into use in February to serve the fast-growing passenger transportation between Taicang and Shanghai, two neighboring cities.
The terminal building is near the city's tourism center. The center, in partnership with the city transportation group and its subsidiary travel agency, operates one-day sight-seeing tours and cooperates with the Shanghai Ba-Shi Public Transportation Group working to preserve a parking spot at the Shanghai Disney Resort, which is scheduled to open in 2016.
