On Dec 14, Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) welcomed its 30 millionth international passenger this year, marking a new milestone for the airport.

Demarchi Henri, who took Flight SU208 from France, luckily became the 30 millionth passenger of the year at the Pudong Entry and Exit Frontier Inspection Station.

According to the Pudong Entry and Exit Frontier Inspection Station, the figure increased 14.2 percent year on year. PVG becomes the first airport reaching the 30 million mark in inbound and outbound passenger numbers. Meanwhile, it also has topped among Chinese airports in foreign passenger traffic for 12 consecutive years.

In 2015, PVG handled 190 thousand international flights, up 9.3 percent year on year. The daily inbound and outbound passengers travelling through the airport averaged 95,000.

To meet the increasing passenger growth, the airport is keen to offer high-quality and safe custom services. Currently, there are 15 self-service channels for inbound passengers in Terminal 2, which has passed 1.15 million passengers with the new version electronic passports in 2015. Moreover, the ten newly-built self-service channels in Terminal 1 will come into service in the near future, to enhance the efficiency of custom clearance.
