Shanghai Airports Start Anti-Terror Security Checks Ahead of G20 Summit
From Aug 15, Shanghai Pudong and Hongqiao airports will see higher-level security checks at their entrances and exits. |
Shanghai's two airports will run anti-terror security checks on Monday, Aug 15 as Chinese authorities step up safety measures ahead of next month's G20 summit in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province.
ALL passengers and baggage will receive additional safety checks at Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Hongqiao International Airport from Aug 15.
The anti-terrorism checks will be carried out at the entrances and exits of the terminal buildings of Pudong and Hongqiao airports from 12:00 a.m. on Aug 15.
The airport authority reminds passengers not to take flammable or explosive materials, knives and other prohibited objects to the airports.
Passengers are also advised to arrive at the airports earlier to leave more time for security checks.
The stepped-up security measures are being put in place in preparation for the G20 Summit to be held in Shanghai's neighboring Hangzhou City on September 4 and 5 when the national leaders of Group 20 countries will be present.
