A direct flight between Shanghai and the city of San Jose in the US, has been launched, the first direct route to connect Shanghai and a North American city, with the inaugural flight taking off from Terminal 2 at Pudong International Airport on Sept 1.

The new route will fly every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday using Airbus A330-200s aircraft. The flights will depart from Shanghai at 1:30 pm and arrive in San Jose at 10:40 am the following day. The returning flight will take off from San Jose at 12:30 pm and reaching Shanghai at 4:30 pm the next day.

Air China's launch of the Shanghai-San Jose is a significant step in the expansion of the airline's global air network.
