The British actor - who portrays the title character's sidekick Watson in the Guy Ritchie blockbuster - was left uncomfortable and hungry while wearing the old-fashioned attire because the restricting collar meant it was difficult for him to swallow his lunch.

He explained: "I had to wear this terribly stiff, tight collar as part of my costume which was just horrible. On the first day I actually tried staying in character and wearing it to lunch. It was like trying to swallow sushi with a razor blade around my neck!"

"Luckily, it evolved into a wonderful experience."
