WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.  - Lindsay Davenport's comeback will include representing the United States in the Fed Cup.

The three-time Grand Slam singles champion agreed to play for the U.S. team that faces Germany in the Fed Cup quarterfinals at La Jolla, Calif., on Feb. 2-3.

"We are thrilled to have her back," U.S. captain Zina Garrison said Tuesday.

The 31-year-old Davenport was off the tennis tour for nearly a year while having her first child, a son who was born in June. She returned to action in August by playing doubles at New Haven, Conn., then went 13-1 the rest of the season at three singles tournaments, taking two titles.

The Fed Cup matches will be Davenport's first singles matches in the United States since the 2006 U.S. Open.

The former No. 1-ranked player is currently 72nd. She is 31-2 in the Fed Cup, including 25-2 in singles, and hasn't lost a match in the team competition since 1994. Her last Fed Cup appearance was in 2005, in a quarterfinal against Belgium.

Garrison has until 10 days before the matches against Germany to announce her squad.
