FISU: China 'capable' of holding Winter Olympics

BEIJING -- On the eve of the 24th Winter Universiade, President George Killian of the International University Sports Federation (FISU) said in an interview that he believed China is absolutely capable of holding a Winter Olympic Games.

Killian was unsparing in his praise for the excellent preparations of the northeastern Chinese city Harbin for the Winter Universiade, saying he believed Harbin is absolutely capable of holding the best one yet, and that after the games people will believe that it could host a winter Olympics.

"Absolutely. I think once the universiade winter games is over, people from all over the world will believe Harbin is capable of holding a Winter Olympic Games." said President George Killian of the International University Sports Federation (FISU).

Killian added most of the sports facilities for the 24th Winter Universiade are newly built with the most advanced technologies.

Not only athletes, but also tourists and sports lovers from all over the world would be attracted to the city to enjoy all the sports facilities.

Harbin could draw lots of experiences from the Winter Universiade which lays a solid foundation for the city to bid on for future Winter Olympic Games, said the 85-year-old.
