James, a fan-favourite slam dunk player, has never participated in the dunk competition.

The All-Star forward previously said he would consider taking part in the event on February 13 in Dallas, but it turned out the power forward not appear on the list for the high-flying dunk.

New York Knicks guard Nate Robinson, who won the 2009 dunk event, will compete against Lakers guard Shannon Brown and Charlotte forward Gerald Wallace.

Eric Gordon of the Los Angeles Clippers and DeMar DeRozan of the Toronto Raptors will compete for the fourth spot for dunk competition on February 12.
