On Monday, at 7:25am, sports fans all over China will join millions more around the world to watch the Indianapolis Colts take on the New Orleans Saints in Super Bowl XLIV (Super Bowl 44) on CCTV-5.
Other regional broadcasters, including GDTV, SMG and Dragon TV, will join CCTV in televising the game in Mandarin as they did last year when 2.2 million Chinese viewers watched Super Bowl XLIII (Super Bowl 43) live.
To continue improving the experience for local fans, the National Football League (NFL) will also be organizing Super Bowl parties, for the third year in a row, in Beijing and Shanghai. As a special treat, cheerleaders from the New England Patriots will perform at the Beijing Super Bowl party.
The Colts and Saints have developed a strong supporter base in China. May Day, one of China's most popular bands, and the featured participants of CCTV-5's "NFL China Blitz" show, said: "We watched some of the playoff games and think the Saints' offense is impressive. They have many young and talented players like Reggie Bush and are led by consistent veterans like QB Drew Brees. It will take a lot of heart for them to beat the Colts in the Super Bowl but we hope to see them win."
