Bin Hammam's bid rejected by CAS

Mohamed bin Hammam has failed in his bid to be reinstated as head of Asian soccer by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) said on Monday.

The 62-year-old Qatari is serving a lifetime ban from soccer after being accused by FIFA of bribery during his failed bid to become the world governing body's president in May.

Tiger drops out of world's top 50

Tiger Woods will plummet to depths he has not reached in 15 years as he is projected to drop two spots to 51st in the world rankings to be issued on Monday.

The former world No 1 has not triumphed anywhere since the 2009 Australian Masters and has been steadily losing ranking points because of his struggles on and off the course.

In Monday's rankings, Woods is expected to be sandwiched by South African Louis Oosthuizen (in 50th) and fellow American Jonathan Byrd (52nd), the first time he has been out of the top 50 since he was 61st on Oct 13, 1996.

Wenger gives up title hopes

Arsene Wenger admits Arsenal cannot be regarded as a title contender after falling 12 points behind leader Manchester United following its 2-1 defeat at north London rival Tottenham.

Wenger endured another frustrating day as his side crashed to its fourth loss in seven league games at White Hart Lane.

The Gunners' disappointment was compounded by a potentially serious injury to Bacary Sagna who was taken to hospital with an ankle problem that could keep him out for several weeks.
