JINAN - Guangdong Hongyuan wrapped up the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) best-of-seven series with 4-0 win after they rout Shandong 94-74 on Friday.
Guangdong overtook Bayi to boast the most successful CBA franchise with eight titles.
Shandong became the first team to be swept 4-0 in the best-of-seven CBA finals.
Tonight, the finals MVP Yi Jianlian from Guangdong was 7 of 13 to score the game high 24 points and had 13 rebounds. The former NBA forward averaged 24 points and 11 rebounds in the series.
Guangdong had four other players adding double points. Wang Shipeng and American center Ike Diogu had 16 points apiece. Shandong's American guard Pooh Jeter scored the team high 16 points.
Guangdong fine tuned to the match early and maintained the momentum all through. Shandong managed to even the first period 19-19, but just to stumble from then on. Guangdong grabbed a 43-34 lead into the half time before Shandong narrowed the gap to 60-61 at the close of third quarter.
Guangdong outpowered Shandong 29-12 in the fourth quarter to seal the win.
