7. Terracotta Warriors, Shaanxi province The warriors were built to protect the mausoleum of China’s first emperor, Qin Shi Huang of the Qin Dynasty (221-206 BC), in his afterlife. The vivid sculptures have different hairstyles, clothes and expressions and vary in height in accordance with their positions.
