The canal in the Business District of Dalian East Port opened its gates for water on Oct 19, 2014, forming an artificial canal extending four kilometers. The canal and gondolas and European-style buildings were open for visitors to get a taste of the "Oriental City of Canals" during the day, but the scenic spot won't officially be open before May, 2015.

The project is built on land reclaimed from the sea and covers 403,600 square meters in the East Harbor Commercial Area. It is planned to have a supporting complex of commercial, catering, recreational and other relevant services.
