Yang Yuanqing, chairman and CEO of Lenovo Group, claimed his company has become the champion of Pan PC (personal computer) market and is ready to challenge the top dogs in mobile service and other sectors.
According to Yang, shipments of Lenovo's PC and tablet computers hit a record high during the past season with market shares of PC and tablet reaching 19.7% and 14.1% respectively. These numbers put Lenovo past US-based Apple as the biggest global Pan PC manufacturer.
Responding to Apple CEO Tim Cook's announcement that shipments of ipad are larger than those of any PC manufacturers, Yang said making a comparison between "apples and oranges" is not fair and can't reflect true strength of a company.
