Woman learns Korean to operate her rice cooker

From Japanese electronic toilet seats to Swiss luxury watches, Chinese tourists have been globe-trotting in pursuit of purchases. A customer from Liaoning province found she had acquired more than expected with one high technology purchase.

A woman surnamed Ma from Shenyang, bought a rice cooker during a visit to South Korea during Spring Festival. She was told by the salesperson that the cooker was voice controlled and would work automatically if she shouted: "cook the rice".

Only after getting the rice cooker home did Ma find the machine could only "understand" Korean. Unwilling to give in, she is now learning Korean.
