From manhole to art canvas

Manhole covers at the No.1 Vocational Technical School of Nanning have recently turned colorful with the help of the students, gxnews.com.cn reported on Friday.

Students majoring in the arts began drawing on the manhole covers in early March. The student’s teacher and instructor Deng Renzhi intends to have all the manhole covers painted. Deng said the manhole cover painting project is inspired by comic culture. He said in countries where comics are popular, almost every city has its representative cartoonist and the characters he or she creates will be drawn by the people on the manhole covers everywhere.

The students have a bigger dream. They want to have the manhole covers in the whole city painted with more ethnic and local characteristics.
