7-year-old diagnosed with Aspergers fascinated by int'l news reports
Seven-year-old Huanhuan who likes to watch the news and discuss US-Russian relations was diagnosed with Asperger syndrome (AS) in Yuyao city, East China's Zhejiang province, dahe.cn reports on Saturday.
After beginning kindergarten, the boy began showing differences from his peers – he didn't like watching cartoons and preferred news reports, especially those about US-Russian relations.
Huang Su, a pediatrician in Yuyao, noticed that Huanhuan becomes immersed in talking and reciting speeches about US-Russian relations, however his thought process is disordered.
AS is an autism spectrum disease that is characterized by difficulties in social interaction and nonverbal communication, physical clumsiness and atypical use of language are frequently reported in those diagnosed.
