Security guard makes donation to students

A security guard in Shandong province has donated almost all of his monthly salary over 19 years to poor students, local newspaper Weihai Evening News reported on Friday.

Ma Yong, 39, a security guard at a residential community in Rushan city, Shandong province, donated 1700 yuan ($274) every month to students with financial difficulties. Ma makes 2200 yuan a month.

According to Ma, his mother's finger was cut by a machine while he was in the army. He said his comrades donated the money to help her treatment and that he is grateful and wants to help more people.

Ma has donated 470,000 yuan in 19 years. Despite having no savings, Ma insists on helping poor students. His donations are currently providing 100 yuan a month to 17 students.
